The Space Above Us Program
Prepare Young Engineers for Real-World Careers
Our current mission Is to Build an active-control rocket that stabilizes itself after liftoff, without relying on fins. Using onboard computers, thrust vectoring, gimbals, and microcontrollers, students learn everything from hardware design to coding flight systems.
We focus on teamwork, clear communication, and understanding every part of the process—from construction and wiring to software and launch. Our goal is to transform curious minds into capable engineers, ready to tackle the future of space exploration.

Our Team.
Our team of four brings together structural design, propulsion safety, and mission-ready software to launch our summer rocket project. With secure payload integration, real-time telemetry, and robust testing, we’re pushing boundaries and gaining real-world skills. Together, we’re building a future where young engineers can take flight—we’re building a team of future engineers!
Building From Example
We’re using the Athena V2 Iteration V18 from Sketchfab as the starting point for exploring the design and control of an actively guided rocket. This detailed model helps us understand the fundamentals of rocket framing, control systems, and coding needed for stabilization and flight.
A big thank you to the original designers for sharing such an inspiring and well-crafted design. Your work sets the stage for learning, building, and innovation.

EX-1
EX-1 is a prototype experimental C-class rocket developed as a testing platform for critical flight systems, including thrust vector control, onboard sensors, and flight stabilization code. Its primary mission is to provide a safe and scalable environment for testing and refining our software and control algorithms before deploying them on our larger G-class rocket. By collecting real-world data and validating our code in flight, EX-1 serves as a crucial stepping stone toward more advanced, high-powered rocketry.
