This stunning image from the NASA Hubble Space Telescope showcases NGC 1266, a mysterious galaxy whose bright central core and subtle structure hint at a spiral shape, yet it lacks the distinct spiral arms typically seen in spiral galaxies. Dark reddish-brown dust lanes weave across its face, partially obscuring the galaxy, while the light from distant background galaxies shines through its faint outer regions and the surrounding darkness of space.
Located approximately 100 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus, also known as the Celestial River, NGC 1266 is classified as a lenticular galaxy. Lenticular galaxies are considered transitional objects, bridging the gap between spiral and elliptical galaxies. They possess a bright central bulge and a flattened disk similar to spiral galaxies but contain little ongoing star formation and lack the prominent spiral arms associated with their spiral counterparts.
By studying galaxies like NGC 1266, astronomers gain valuable insight into how galaxies evolve over time and the processes that shape the universe.

Building From Example
We’re using the Athena V2 Iteration V18 from Sketchfab as the starting point for exploring the design and control of an actively guided rocket. This detailed model helps us understand the fundamentals of rocket framing, control systems, and coding needed for stabilization and flight.
